Ford PowertrainCare

Borgman Ford recommends at minimum the PowertrainCARE service plan, which covers the critical engine and transmission components of your vehicle. The PowertrainCare covers 24 components.

In addition to parts coverage, all Ford Protect Extended Service Plans supply 24-hour Roadside Assistance in the case of an emergency tire change, lockout, out-of-fuel incident, or battery jump-start help; towing assistance up to $1,000 per incident; emergency travel expense up to $1,000 within the first 5 days per incident; destination assistance up to $75; key and fob replacement or servicing; and rental vehicle coverage of $30 per day up to 10 days for covered repairs.

Engine

All Ford Protect ESPs cover major engine components, but only the Ford Protect PremiumCARE covers the Power Train Control Module. Included in this plan:

Transmission

All Ford Protect ESPs cover your transmission basics, including 4×4 and AWD transfer care and internal components. However, for protection on external items such as transmission mounts, cooler lines, and linkage, you’ll need the Ford Protect PremiumCARE. Included in this plan:

  • All Internally Lubricated Parts
  • Seals and Gaskets
  • Torque Converter
  • Transfer Case (Including All Internal Parts)
  • Transmission Case
Electrical

Ford Protect PowertrainCARE does not cover these elements. BaseCARE and ExtraCARE include major parts that contribute to functionality. PremiumCARE adds coverage for convenience electrical features.

Brakes

Ford Protect PowertrainCARE does not cover these elements. BaseCARE covers basic brake system parts, excluding friction components. ExtraCARE and PremiumCARE cover more of the advanced elements.

Front Suspension

Ford Protect PowertrainCARE does not cover these elements. Most front suspension parts are covered from Ford Protect BaseCARE to Ford Protect PremiumCARE. If you use your vehicle to tow, the Ford Protect PremiumCARE also covers rear and advanced suspension systems.

Rear-Wheel Drive

All Ford Protect ESPs offer the same coverage for rear-wheel drive axel functionality, and for 4×4 and AWD vehicles, the front-drive axel is also covered. Included in all plans:

  • Axle Shafts
  • Rear: Drive Axle Housing and Front Axle Housing for 4×4 (Including All Internal Parts)
  • Front: Final Drive Housing and Rear Axle Housing for AWD (Including All Internal Parts)
  • Driveshaft
  • Hubs, Automatic Front Locking (Four-Wheel Drive)
  • Locking Rings (Four-Wheel Drive)
  • Seals and Gaskets
  • Universal and Constant Velocity Joints
Steering

Ford Protect PowertrainCARE does not cover these elements. BaseCARE covers most steering components. PremiumCARE expands the coverage to more advanced components.

AC / Heating

Ford Protect PowertrainCARE does not cover these elements. BaseCARE covers basic air-conditioning components. Ford Protect ExtraCARE and Ford Protect PremiumCARE adds additional and more advanced A/C and heating components.

High-Tech

Ford Protect PowertrainCARE does not cover these elements. Only Ford Protect ExtraCARE and Ford Protect PremiumCARE covers high-tech parts.

Emissions
